Three contracts awarded by Danish TSO Energinet.dk for cable connection between Denmark and Sweden

Hellenic Cables Group has been awarded two contracts for the planning, design and supply of both submarine and underground cables,  and the supply and installation of accessories connecting the substations “Teglstrupgård” in Denmark and “Laröd” in Sweden by the Danish national electricity transmission system operator Energinet.dk.

It has also been awarded a third contract for the planning, design and supply of underground cables for the replacement of the existing overhead line between the substations “Ejby” and “Vejleå” in Denmark.

These contracts form part of an overall plan by Energinet.dk to modernize the interconnection between the national grids of Denmark and Sweden and moving Danish overhead powerlines underground. The award of these high-profile projects underlines the Cablel ® Hellenic Cables Group’s pre-eminent position among the few global high-voltage submarine and underground cable manufacturers which are able to successfully execute complex projects.

The contracts awarded to the Hellenic Cables Group involve the planning, design and supply of 150 kV three core and 132 kV single core submarine cables, 132 kV and 150kV single core underground cable, and the supply, delivery and installation of joints and terminations. In total these contracts require the supply of approx. 18 km of submarine cables and 75 km of underground cables.

The 132 kV XLPE insulated, single core unarmoured submarine cables and the 150 kV XLPE insulated, three-core composite submarine cables will be produced by the Hellenic Cables Group at its Fulgor plant in Corinth, Greece, and the single core 132 kV and 150kV high-voltage underground cables will be produced at its plant in Thiva, Greece. All three contracts are to be completed by the end of 2017.

Both plants operate state-of-the-art facilities, modern manufacturing lines and employ highly skilled and experienced professionals; this guarantees the quality of technology and production. The advanced technological infrastructure of the Fulgor submarine cables plant enables the production and testing of submarine cables in long, continuous lengths, with a minimum number of factory joints. In recent years, the Group has continued to develop a wide range of technologically innovative cabling solutions and knowledge of high voltage submarine cables, extra high voltage power cables and optical fibre submarine cable, among others.
